Since May 2014 we've started training towards D2W. We both started working at Indoor Skydive Roosendaal in 2010 and did loads of training before May 2014, but last year we decided we wanted to compete in competitions after Adam Mattacolla suggested we'd try to make it to Barcelona.
The World Challenge was Rick's first skydiving competition and Joey's first ever competition! We enjoyed ourselves so much that when the KnVVL got in touch to compete at WISC2015 we didn't doubt for a second.
The KnVVL for sending us to WISC2015, Indoor Skydive Roosendaal for helping us get there, Bas Driessen as alternate and head of delegation, our colleagues and friends both skydivers and non-skydivers for all the support and ofcourse our partners for their patience the past few months.
That's a difficult question to answer, every team at WISC is highly motivated to show what they've got, so we guess the only difference is that we'll be the only team in D2W who are speaking Dutch.
Joey has been working for Indoor Skydive Roosendaal for 5,5 years, at the moment he works 2 days in the office where he does all video work for ISR, Skidome and Icekart, and 3 days in the tunnel. Besides working as an instructor Joey coaches at ISR as well. Joey, like Rick, spends all of his time in the tunnel. He did 20 jumps outside but continued tunnelflying from then on. Joey is a total gearhead, avid videographer and a total tunnelrat.
Rick has also been at ISR for 5,5 years, but is somewhat of a weekend warrior. Weekdays Rick is a PE-teacher, evenings and weekends he's working and coaching at Indoor Skydive Roosendaal. Besides indoor skydiving Rick plays team handball, loves doing photography and spends as much time as possible in the tunnel. Fun fact: Rick hasn't done a single skydive.
